Nana Sato-Rossberg

Nana Sato-Rossberg is Chair of the SOAS Centre for Translation Studies (CTS), Convener of MA Translation, and Executive Council member of the International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies (IATIS). She is lecturer in Translation Studies at SOAS, University of London. Her expertise is cultural translation, with a focus on Japanese and East Asian contexts.

Lutz Marten

Lutz Marten is Professor of General and African Linguistics and Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Cultures at SOAS. His work focuses on the interaction of structure, context and interpretation in natural language, as well as on language variation, contact and change. He is particularly interested in languages of Eastern and Southern Africa.

 

 

 

Stephen Dodd

Stephen Dodd is Professor of Japanese Literature at SOAS, specialising in Modernism, Gender, Native Place literature, and Translation Studies.

 

 

Mandana Seyfeddinipur

Mandana Seyfeddinipur is Director of the SOAS World Languages Institute. She is a linguist specialising in language documentation, pragmatics language use, multimodality and the cognitive basis of language production.

 

 

Andrew Gerstle

Andrew Gerstle is Professor of Japanese Studies at SOAS. He previously taught at the Australian National University, where he was also Professor of Japanese. He has published extensively on Japanese theatre and more recently also on Japanese erotic art.
